Fewer Taste Buds Does Not Mean Low Appetite

As compared to humans who have about 9,000 taste buds, dogs have about 2,000 fewer. Yet, this does not mean that dogs have low appetite and are not discriminating eaters. Dogs have about 200 million scent receptors while we only have about 5 million.  It is the smell of the food that attracts them that is why it is important to feed them food that has good aroma and delicious taste.

Choose among dry dog food, wet dog food or alternative dog food. Dogs can be very picky too of the texture of the food. Some like dry, some like wet. Be sure to feed them food that can supply essential nutrients.
